With guidance and collaboration with The Berrien County Health Department, Skip’s Restaurant will host its 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off. This is a mask-required event, unless you are eating chili or drinking a beverage. This year’s theme is Front Line Workers, including health care workers and restaurant personnel. Competing this year will be firefighters from the New Buffalo Township Fire Department promoting fire safety, Three Oaks Emergency Medical Services, Nurse Practitioner, Amanda Leidy, offering insights on what it’s like to be a health care professional during COVID-19, restaurant workers from Beer Church Brewery, (last year’s returning people’s choice champion), newcomer, New Buffalo Beach Club, Leeds Public House, Skip’s Restaurant and Catering and returning champions, Darrell Kettring and his daughter, Eryka Leigh. We have reserved a larger tent for proper social distancing, created a handicapped area for those who cannot stand for longer periods, and we will be limiting the number of guests, contestants and staff to no more than 100 at one time. We will have the incredible singer/saxophonist, Michael Hulett offering entertainment, a cash bar and all the chili and fixings one could imagine. Entry is $10 for adults, children 6-12 are half price and those younger than 6 are free. This is also the last day of Skip’s European Farmers Market for the 2020 season.
