The Harbor Country Hikers mid-November adventure will take place at a brand new nature preserve, led by HCH officers Bob Mueller and Pat Fisher. The Village of Grand Beach is now the proud owner and caretaker of what was formerly referred to as the 42 Acres, now officially named the Grand Beach Nature Preserve! Bob will recall some of the interesting history of Grand Beach before and during the hike led by Pat, who will share some natural history and a little about the unique natural features found on this preserve. The hike will take us through sand prairies, mesic forests and along the coastal plain marsh located in the adjoining Grand Beach Marsh Preserve owned by Chikaming Open Lands. All in All, a fun and educational family hike will be had by all.
HCH recently purchased an All-Terrain Rollator which may be reserved for use on our hikes. Reservations are made by Emailing firstname.lastname@example.org on a first-come first-served basis.
Dress in layers, a warm cap, and sturdy boots and bring plenty of water. Depending on the weather, there may be some muddy or icy areas. HCH hikers observe federal and state guidelines so mask wearing is optional.
