Johnny L. Ford knows what it’s like to face hard times. After the stock market crash of 2008, he and his wife, Jeanne, both lost their jobs and were faced with the possibility of losing their beloved Benton Harbor home. Johnny detailed their struggle through—and eventual emergence from—the recession and foreclosure crisis in his memoir, “There’s No Place Like Home: A Year in Foreclosure.”

Johnny will bring his inspiring story to the stage at the Box Factory for the Arts on Saturday, August 23, from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $15 for cabaret seating and $12 general admission, available at ticketstripe.com/noplacelikehome. Johnny Ford is an advocate for personal growth and transformation, and for overcoming obstacles to create a life of purpose. He takes pride in his roles as evangelist, inspirational speaker, and spoken-word artist. Professionally, he had a 24-season career with the Department of Natural Resources and currently works as a Michigan park supervisor.
