A 14 x 8-foot "service flag" flown 80-120 years ago in Three Oaks will be on display at Three Oaks Heritage Hall, 8 E. Linden Street. The flag was recently returned to The Region of Three Oaks Museum from the MSU Museum in East Lansing.
The red-bordered flag has 119 stars on it, representing the servicemen and women from Three Oaks who served during one of the two World Wars. Six of the stars are embroidered in gold, representing service members from Three Oaks killed during service.
MSU Museum records are inconclusive as to whether this flag was flown in Three Oaks during World War I or World War II.
